FIT
FOR THE RIVER RUN TRAINING PROGRAM
WHAT: Train to run or run/walk the Elizabeth River Run, a 10-kilometer (6.2 mile) race that starts at the Joint Forces Staff College on Hampton Boulevard and finishes near Town Point Park in downtown Norfolk on Saturday, May 17, 2003.
WHO: Anyone who desires to train and
improve his or her running fitness enough to complete a 10K road race.
HOW: Coaches from the Tidewater Striders
will provide you with a training schedule designed to prepare you to run or
run/walk 10 kilometers. There will a scheduled training run at least one day a
week. The training program will gradually increase the number of miles you run
per week and the length of the long run for the week.
WHERE AND WHEN: The name of the coach/coaches, contact information, and training site will be listed below. Additionally, the YMCA of South Hampton Roads is participating in the Fit for the River Run program, although all YMCAs may not have a training program. Contact the specific YMCA for information on scheduled training days and times.
HOW MUCH: There is no cost for the training
program. There is a race entry fee, but it is reduced for those who participate
in the Fit for the River Run training program. You will receive an Elizabeth
River Run t-shirt for participating and a unique medal upon completion of the
race.
